2001 SPEEDWAY CHAMPIONSHIP |
| The first race of the season: The
tapes went up, I went into the first corner leading, and
I was still leading right up to to the end of the first
lap, when the engine gave up the ghost. It was not
unexpected. Luckily we had previously bought a spare
piston and barrel for use later in the season, which we
had to use sooner than expected. The following weekend at a N.O.R.A meeting, easy track no real need for me to push the bike, I could take it easy on my newly run in engine. You guessed it The engine blew up again. Due to a small oil seal failing, that I had missed on the previous seizure. This leaked gearbox oil and air into the engine (which is a deadly mixture for a two stroke). End of season for Bobby Carr! |
